Hello! Today I will write about the most sacred thing that can be in the computer business, this is about how to install Windows 7. I think that everyone at least once had such a problem as “Windows crashed”, and only specialists can reinstall it and charge you a considerable amount of money.

But you think so, today I will write how to install Windows 7 yourself and completely free. I've been meaning to write this article for a long time, but never got around to it. Until I myself needed to reinstall Windows 7 on my computer. I quickly figured it out and took photos for this article. I apologize in advance for the quality of the photo, I took the photo with a video camera. And then I will describe point by point what is needed to install Windows 7 and how to actually install it.

This article describes in detail the installation process of Windows 7. But I wrote another article in which I collected. Take a look, I think you will find it useful.

What do you need to install Windows 7?

1. Naturally, we will need a disk with Windows 7. You can buy it in a store or download it on the Internet. After you download it, it will most likely be in .iso format; I wrote about how to burn a disc in the article.

2. Before installation, we need to “save” your files that are located on the disk on which your operating system is installed. Usually this is drive “C”, the fact is that during the installation process we will format it and all files from it will be deleted. If you have new computer(only from the store) then this does not concern you, but in another case you need to transfer all the files from drive “C” to another drive. Data stored on the desktop and in a folder "My Documents" will also be deleted!

3. And the last thing you need to prepare is to put it in BIOS booting from a CD/DVD drive, so that we can boot from it first (By default, the computer boots from the hard drive). I wrote about what BIOS is and how to enter it here and. You can check how your computer is configured; you may already have boot from the drive installed. Just insert the Windows 7 disk into the drive and restart the computer; if the computer boots from the disk, then everything is OK (you will see the white text and dots). Well, if the PC did not boot at all, or went Windows boot, then you need to configure the BIOS. Preparations for installation are completed, let's move on to installation. I already wrote about that.

Installing Windows 7

1. Place the disc in the drive and restart the computer. If you did everything correctly during preparation, then you should see a white inscription with dots. You need to quickly press any key. Next you should see this picture:

3. After this, we see this picture, on which we click “Install”

5. At the next stage, click “Full installation”

6. Now comes the fun part. If you already had an operating system, and your HDD is already broken, then we do this: We look in the list for the partition that we need (we need drive “C”), opposite it should be written “System”. The names may differ from what I have. For example, I have “Disk 0 Partition 6”, yours may be different. If you are sure of your choice, then click “Disk Settings” and “Format”, confirm, wait for completion, see that our disk is selected (Remains selected) and only after checking everything again, click “Next”. When formatting, all data from the partition you selected will be deleted!

If you have a new computer, then you will need to partition the disk. In your case, you will only have an unmarked area. I described in detail the process of partitioning a new hard drive in the article. Do this: Select it (the unmarked area), click “Disk Settings” and “Create” and enter the size of the first partition. The first partition that you will create will be a partition for the system (drive “C”), I advise you to allocate 50-100 GB for this partition. The remaining unmarked area needs to be divided, preferably twice. Let's create again and enter, for example, 200 GB, and with what remains we create another partition and you should get a picture similar to mine:

7. After clicking on the “Next” button in the previous paragraph, the process of copying files and installing Windows 7 will begin.

8. Now let's move on to the actual Windows setup 7. Enter your username and click “Next”

9. Enter the password, or not, as desired and click “Next”

10. If you have a key, then write it down, and if not, then uncheck the “Activate when connected to the Internet” and click “Next”

The appearance of errors in the operation of the computer, the lack of a lasting effect after manual cleaning, the desire to update the software and a number of other reasons force the PC owner to look for an answer to the question of how to reinstall Windows. The procedure is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance, and is accessible to users with different levels of computer literacy.

What is reinstalling Windows

The key lack of reinstallation from a traditional update is the following:

  • complete deletion of all files and documents located on the system disk;
  • After reinstallation, you will need to reinstall the executable files for all programs.

Why is it needed?

Long-term use of a computer leads to the appearance of system errors hampering its normal operation. Among the most common reasons requiring reinstallation of Windows are the following:

  • introduction of a virus that affects the stability of the entire system;
  • the need to install a new advanced version of the OS;
  • critical reduction in computer speed;
  • Installation of an unofficial build with many errors.

Briefly, the procedure for reinstalling the operating system includes a set of preparatory work, choosing an installation location, loading system files and performing initial device settings. After which you can start working on the unit under the OS that was selected for installation. Below is step by step guide to action, and the video demonstrates in detail the entire process on Windows example 10.

Preparation

Before starting the entire procedure, you should make sure you have a valid activation key. Even if you plan to simply reinstall a previously used version of the OS, the system may require an activation key. It is equally important to make sure that the computer settings comply with the requirements of the installed Windows versions. This can be done on the official Microsoft website or on the installation disk with the purchased program.

Saving important data

During the reinstallation process, the logical drive on which the installation is installed is formatted. previous version operating system. Other parts hard drive will remain unchanged. Therefore, before starting work, you must transfer everything important files and documents to any removable media or cloud storage.

On OS versions from "seven" and higher, it is possible to special remedy data transfer, which allows you to save and transfer the following files and information to the updated unit:

  • Accounts;
  • documentation;
  • music and image files;
  • email messages;
  • selected Internet links;
  • video recordings;
  • other files.

For paid programs, you must also carefully read those points license agreement, which relate to maintaining preferences even after reinstalling the OS. Otherwise, the license may be invalidated and use of the software will become impossible.

BIOS setup

By default, the BIOS software environment has settings that automatically start loading the OS from the computer's hard drive. However, to reinstall, you will need to temporarily change this setting by performing the following algorithm:

  1. When you turn on or restart your computer, press the f2, F8, F9, or F12 key (depending on your hardware manufacturer). Finding out the right key is easy - it is displayed on the monitor screen during BIOS loading.
  2. In the interface that opens software environment select the Boot partition and select one of the available removable media to boot the OS. In our example, a CD is selected.
  3. Save changes.

By default, the BIOS software environment has settings that automatically start loading the OS from the computer's hard drive

Selecting the desired media and saving changes is carried out in accordance with the prompts at the bottom of the screen, where the working keyboard keys with their functionality are located.

Start of reinstallation

The first stage of reinstallation begins with restarting the computer after completing the preparatory stage. This will allow the new BIOS settings to take effect.

Launching OS media

When sending the PC to reboot, insert the media with the operating system into the drive or corresponding connector. If the changes were made correctly, the BIOS will boot from removable media, and the setup wizard dialog box will open on the screen.

When sending the PC to reboot, insert media with the operating system into the drive or corresponding connector

Selecting the required partition on your hard drive

The next step of the setup and installation wizard is to select a location to localize the operating system on your hard drive. If it is logically represented by one directory, then the dialog box will display something like this.

The next step of the setup and installation wizard is to select a location for localizing the operating system on the hard drive

If the hard drive is logically divided into several disks - C, D, E, etc., then the wizard will prompt you to select one of them as a location for placing the OS. You must select a directory with a capacity of at least 35 GB, since here, in addition to the operating system, documents and files saved on the Desktop and placed in the “Downloads” folder will be stored.

If the hard drive is logically divided into several disks - C, D, E, etc., then the wizard will offer to select one of them as a place to place the OS

Formatting a disk for the system

For complete removal pre-existing system files, the wizard will prompt you to select a formatting option for the disk where the operating system will be located. So, for Windows XP, the only correct option is formatting in the NFTS system.

Continue installation

Direct installation process necessary files takes at least an hour. In this case, the computer will reboot several times. Therefore, you can safely go about your business without interfering with the operation of the unit and waiting for a system notification about the successful outcome of the operation.

Create an account

  1. At this step, the computer and the user are assigned a name, which can always be changed by right-clicking on the My Computer shortcut and selecting context menu Properties item.
  2. Setting a password is an optional item, so you can safely skip it and proceed to the next setup step from the wizard.
  3. Entering the activation key, which is located on the bottom of the laptop, on a special sticker on system unit, on the box with the installation disk. If there is no key (when installing an illegal version of the OS), then you will be able to use the system’s capabilities for exactly a month, after which you will either need to enter the key or look for another version.

Returning BIOS settings

For the computer to operate correctly, you must again visit the Boost section of the BIOS software environment and set the hard drive as the priority OS boot location.

Additional Information

Modern versions of the OS independently load working drivers for the video card, speakers, etc. If these components begin to work incorrectly, you can always load them yourself using one of the utilities such as Driver Booster. In this case, forcing a driver update through Device Manager will also help:

  • open Device Manager - in the My Computer context menu, select the Management option and activate the corresponding section in the window that opens;
  • right-click on the device with a yellow exclamation mark;
  • select the “Update drivers” option, indicating the search path for executable files - on the Internet or in a specific folder on the PC.

How does the installation process of Windows 10 and 8 differ from older versions?

There are several installation options available for the Windows 10 operating system:

  1. Update via Update Center. Can be used if the computer previously worked under “seven” or “eight”. For everyone else more earlier versions There is only one way possible - installing the distribution from a boot disk or flash drive.
  2. Installation over a previously installed OS by updating from bootable removable media. Not applicable for Windows Vista, you will need to install version 7, then 8.1 and only then 10.
  3. Installation from scratch. As quickly as possible, but will require re-downloading installation files for all third-party games, applications, programs, etc.

For Windows 7, 8 and Vista, the installation procedure is identical, so once you install the same Vista yourself, you can confidently perform the work of loading system files for version 7 or 8.

Thus, the process of reinstalling Windows is almost completely automated, which allows even a novice PC user to cope with the procedure. Having sequentially gone through the steps of the installation wizard, you can start working immediately after rebooting the computer.

Hello dear site visitors! This article will focus on one very important issue - how to reinstall Windows 7?

If you want to immediately start reinstalling the operating system (OS), you can go straight to step. But I advise you to start reading the article from the very beginning, as first some very important tips will be given that can save you from unnecessary trouble.

What should you do before uninstalling your old system?

When you reinstall Windows 7, the old system will be completely erased. Therefore, first, you need to copy all the data that you need.

If, before reinstalling, you stored everything on two local drives, for example C and D, then this is good. Since only one of them is systemic, and accordingly the information will be erased only on it. However, even in this case, think carefully, you may also have to copy something from it, for example your browser bookmarks.

But even if you have two system drives, you need to see if the memory is divided correctly between them.

It often happens that when buying a new laptop, for example, sellers, for some reason, memory is broken incorrectly, or don’t break it at all. For example, a laptop has a 350 gigabyte (GB) hard drive. Instead of dividing the memory in this way - 60 GB on local drive C (where our OS is located), and 280 GB on drive D (where everything ours will be stored - photos, videos, games, etc.), they split so - 300 GB on drive C and 50 GB on drive D. Why? There is no answer to this. Personal files It's better not to interfere with the system so that later, if some bad situation arises, for example such as reinstalling Windows 7, I didn’t have to grab my head and frantically copy everything from one medium to another. Therefore, it is better to allocate memory as was said before.

If you decide to redistribute the memory, then in this case you will have to erase everything. And then of course you need to copy everything important information from both disks, since when memory is allocated again, everything will be erased.

Well, if you initially, before reinstalling, had only one disk, then in any case you will have to copy all the information you need.

You may ask another question, what to do if the system crashes so much that won't even start, and copy something to a flash drive, CDs or external hard disk is not possible at all.

There is a way out of this situation. Or:

  1. You go to a friend whose computer is fine. Connect your screw without disconnecting “his” ( THIS SHOULD BE DONE WHEN THE COMPUTER IS TURNED OFF!!!). And download all your information to his computer. Well, if your friend is one of those who “suddenly turned up,” then bring with you an external screw (or several flash drives and disks). And download all the necessary information there.
  2. You go to a computer workshop, explain the situation to them and order them to download all the information from your screw on which you are going to reinstall Windows 7, to external media. Someone can tell me, what’s stopping you from ordering a reinstallation of Windows 7? The answer is price. Downloading information will cost 100 - 200 rubles, and reinstalling Windows will cost from 1000 rubles.

Preparing to reinstall Windows 7?

First you need to configure the BIOS.

I talked in detail about how to do this in the paragraph in the article on installing the seven.

But if you roughly understand this, then I’ll tell you about it here, briefly and without pictures.

First, you must open the BIOS program window. To do this, click on restart/turn on the computer, and start pressing (once per second or more often) one of these three buttons ESC, F2 or Del. Why exactly one of these three, because the BIOS can be called in different ways, most often by one of these three buttons.

Second, you must find BOOT menu. This is the menu that is responsible for which of the media will be loaded first. Since we will be reinstalling Windows from a disk, we need to move the item that contains the words CDROM (or something similar) to the very top.

Lines are moved using either arrows or keys F5/F6 on keyboard.

Third. Once you have moved the CDROM to the top line, press Esc on your keyboard and either select YES or Y Press Enter on your keyboard and the computer reboots.

Now, when you turn on the computer, information from the drive will be loaded first.

Windows 7 disk

If you decide to reinstall Windows 7 from disk and you have both the disk and the key, then you can immediately move on to the last point.

But if you only have a key, as for example is often the case with those who bought a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed, then you only need to find an installation disk, or make it yourself. Sticker with serial number key will be located on the bottom of the laptop.

The only thing that will be indicated on the same sticker that is on the bottom of the laptop is Which version is your key suitable for?, most often in the very top line, for example Windows 7 Home Basic(underlined in green and the key underlined in blue). You will need to download the distribution kit of this particular version from the Internet.

But I can’t tell you where to download. Since distributing links to download licensed programs is punishable by law, and we “respect the code.” But to be honest, finding a clean distribution is not that difficult these days.

Well, what if you have neither a key nor Windows, then you will need to download the broken version. Well, there should be instructions on how to “deal” with the key.

So, everything is ready for installation. Let's get started.

How to reinstall Windows 7 from a disk to a computer or laptop?

Well, actually about how to reinstall Windows 7 from disk I, again, described in great detail in the article about installing Winwows 7 in paragraph :). Well, since installation and reinstallation, in this part, are no different, there is no point in repeating it.

You can ask - Why did you even write this article then?? The answer is simple. Because of the nuances that I mentioned above. Some people think they are unnecessary. But people who forget to copy information and split disks very often step on the same rake over and over again. I was just one of those people. I reinstalled Windows, but forgot about the fact that everything old is erased. So many files that were important to me were lost. I hope you don't repeat these mistakes.

That's all for today. Good luck to all!

website prepared step by step instructions how to reinstall Windows 7.

Proper reinstallation of the operating system consists of the following steps:

  1. Saving data to external media.
  2. Creating a boot disk.
  3. Formatting the hard drive (optional).
  4. System installation.
  5. Copying a working system using Acronis True Image.
  6. The first and last points are required if you are afraid of losing important files when reinstalling.

    Saving data

    There are two options for reinstalling the system:

    1. The system is installed on top of the old one.
    2. Everything is removed and reinstalled.

    In the first case, all data is saved (settings, passwords on sites, files, etc.), but glitches may also be saved. If you install on top, then this section about saving data is irrelevant for you.

    Formatting a disk deletes all data. There are several ways to avoid losing the necessary files:

  • Copy your personal information to another drive on your computer. Suitable if you have 2 hard drives.
  • Dump the files to an external storage device (HDD, flash drive, memory card, smartphone).
  • Save files in the cloud (Yandex Disk, Dropbox, Google Drive).
  • Confidential files can be saved to a WinRar archive with a password and sent to yourself by email. After reinstalling Windows, the archive will remain in the mail.

What to copy from old Windows? Check out the following places:

  • Desktop, My Documents, drive C.
  • Bookmarks in the browser.
  • Browser and torrent download folders.
  • Save games.
  • ICQ/Skype correspondence.

Additionally, everyone can installed programs(Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features) so that after installing a clean OS it is easy to remember all your favorite programs. Upload the screenshot to VKontakte or Facebook, then it won’t be lost.

Creating a boot disk

If you have a licensed Windows DVD, create boot disk(flash drive, memory card) is not necessary, you can skip this section.

More often than not, there is no disk, then you need to download a Windows 7 image from the Internet and correctly burn it to an external drive. We recommend looking for an image of Windows 7 Maximum (aka Ultimate), if you have more than 4 GB, then choose not the x86, but the x64 version.

Simply copying the image will not work; you need to make a bootable drive, for example, through UltraISO. To do this, you will need to download the program itself and find a drive with a capacity of 4 GB or more:

    • Run UltraISO with administrator rights.

    • From the File menu, click Open.

    • Select the downloaded OS image file.

    • Select it, click “Boot” at the top, and then “Burn Hard Disk Image...”.

    • In the new window, check: 1 – whether the flash drive/memory card/external drive is selected correctly; 2 – is it the same image file; 3 – the recording method should be “USB-HDD+”, click the “Record” button.

    • All information from the flash drive will be deleted.

    • The image recording process will begin.

    • Wait, successful completion of the operation looks like this.

The device is ready, now you can reinstall Windows from it. Save it, it might come in handy later. By the way, you can use the drive after this - upload any files to the free space, the main thing is not to accidentally delete the “system” ones.
Video on burning an image to a flash drive via UltraISO:

It is not necessary to use a flash drive or a special memory card with a card reader. You can take a card from your phone as a memory card, and the phone itself will act as a card reader. Even the built-in memory of a mobile phone is suitable for a boot disk, if it is recognized as a drive in the system when connected via USB.

How to set boot via BIOS

Restart the computer, look carefully at the messages displayed, somewhere they will indicate which button to press during boot to get into the BIOS. This could be Del, F1, F2, Esc, Tab or another. As a last resort, use the “scientific poking” method.

The button to enter the BIOS is indicated when the computer restarts.

Bios are different. Something like the following will be waiting for you. In the first case, you need to go to the “Advanced BIOS Features” section.

In the second “Boot”, control the arrows on the keyboard.

In any case, this setting is somewhere nearby, you will find the boot order (may look like First/Second Boot Device), first select the drive where you installed the Win7 image.

Look for the section where you exit Bios Setup Utility and save the settings. The computer will reboot and boot from the image, which will begin the installation of Windows 7.

Operating system installation

As we have already said, reinstalling Windows 7 is possible in 2 options: over the previous copy of Win and by removing the old system. If you want to put it on top and save all the data on the disk where you install the OS, then do not format it.

Tip: If you have only one physical drive, but a fairly large one (200 GB or more), first copy important data, and then divide it into logical drives C and D. It is convenient to install Windows on C with formatting, and on D to permanently store files . This is also useful for Acronis True Image. You can partition the disk during the OS reinstallation process.

    • You copied the important files, made a boot disk, set the boot in the BIOS, and rebooted the PC. The loading will be shown to you for about a minute.
    • Then Windows will present you with a window, check your language settings, click “Next”.

    • Accept the Microsoft license terms.

    • Select your installation type. At the top is “install over the old OS or update”, at the bottom is “complete reinstallation of Windows 7”.

    • Specify which disk to install the OS on. You can format it if you wish (do not format it if you want to save data on it), click “Next”. If it gives an error that it is impossible to install on this disk, then turn off the computer, disconnect all other disks and USB drives, and run the installation again. Also here you can divide a physical disk into logical ones, carefully - do not confuse which one you want to divide, when dividing, all information is deleted from it.

    • 10-20 minutes of copying files. After this, the computer will restart. This means that the copying of files is completed, and further installation occurs from the hard drive. Must be disabled in BIOS loading from the image, and put it back from the HDD. The flash drive is no longer needed, you can get it from USB. If you do not change the BIOS settings, then after a reboot, loading from the flash drive image and copying will begin again.

    • After the reboot, a window will appear asking you to specify your username and password (it is not necessary to enter a password).

    • If there is a key, enter it, if not, just click Next.

    • Select update settings. The license is updated without problems, pirated version Activation may fail. Postpone the decision until later if you don't know what to do. Many people disable updates.

    • Specify your time zone.

    • A little download and you're in Windows 7.

Video on the pen Windows installation 7:

  • Disable hibernation mode (relevant for systems on SSD, it allows you to free up disk space).
  • If the OS is on an SSD, transfer , temporary files and browser files to the HDD.
  • Disable updates (there will be no unnecessary traffic consumption, activation will not fail, and you will not have to wait several minutes for updates to install before turning off).
  • Install drivers for your video card and sound card.

After installing all applications and configuration, use Acronis True Image to make a “clone” local disk. In case of problems, you can restore an exact copy of the system and the entire C drive in 5 minutes, and you do not need to reinstall everything again.

After this, you are the happy owner of a customized, clean OS, and no experiments or failures are now scary. If something goes wrong – 5 minutes and everything is fine again!

And accordingly, you do not have recovery points. In this case, reinstalling Windows 7 is the only way out, unless of course you have or do not want to restore the system from an image made, for example, using the built-in backup system. In this article we will try to describe in as much detail as possible how to install Windows 7.

You can read how to burn an image to disk using Ashampoo. The image itself can be downloaded from almost any torrent tracker. If you need original Windows images 7, please read. You can read how to download from a torrent. Information about will also be useful.

Setting up BIOS to reinstall Windows 7

We have already covered this issue when installing Windows XP with and with . Let's not be lazy and repeat.

First, let's go into the BIOS by pressing one of the DEL, F2, F10 or Esc keys during boot. If you try these keys and nothing happens, refer to the instructions or.

At the bottom of the main window you can (BIOS motherboard P8H67-V), by moving the corresponding icons to the left or to the right. Selecting an icon optical drive and move to the left, in front of or.

You can also configure the loading order in advanced mode on the tab Boot. In line Boot Option #1

Next, set the operating mode or to ACHI. The mode allows you to use NCQ - hardware command queuing, which in turn speeds up the operation of the drive. Go to the tab Advanced. .

The settings will be saved and the computer will restart.

Reinstalling Windows 7

Insert the burned disc with the image and reboot. The following picture will appear asking you to press any key. If booting does not occur, it means either the disk is bad, or the drive cannot read it, or the BIOS is not configured correctly. We check everything again and boot from the installation disk.

Next, you can configure or (convenient for new drives). Function Create- allows. If you are setting up new disk, then when creating the first partition, the system will create a service partition with a capacity of 100 MB. It is better to choose the size of the system disk (on which you will install Windows 7) from 20 GB or more, depending on the version and bit depth of the operating system. It seems to me that for 64-bit operating systems, it is advisable to allocate 60 - 100 GB to the system partition, so that you can install the necessary programs and allocate enough space (10-15%). + space required for the swap file is 1.5RAM and for hibernation or sleep mode - 0.75RAM and it is advisable to leave at least a little for documents. 100 GB will be optimal.

If several people work at the computer, then my partitioning policy is as follows: system partition 100-200 GB (200 since they will store documents on drive C); and one general section with movies, photos and other media content, all the remaining space. Also, when creating a non-system partition, there is a format function, the use of which seems more rational than doing it in installed system. We partition the disk according to your requirements and click Further. How to partition a hard drive on an already installed operating system Windows 7 can be read.

Conclusion

In this article we looked in detail at how it is done reinstalling windows 7 on the computer. Let's repeat the main points:

  • download and
  • setup for BIOS installation
  • setting up the computer drive for installation
  • Windows 7 installation
  • driver installation

The installation process may vary slightly, but the principle is the same.

It is important to install the drivers correctly so that there is no unknown devices, and only after that proceed to installing browsers, etc. If you have questions about driver removal, please look.

After installing the brand new Windows 7, you can start.

If you still have or have any questions, I will be glad to answer them in the comments.
