prepaid comparison -tariffs of Lithuanian mobile operators.

There are three mobile operators in Lithuania: Omnitel, Bite and Tele2. All of them provide the opportunity to connect without concluding contracts.

Cards of all operators can be bought both in mobile phone shops and in various outlets from Lietuvos Spauda kiosks to hypermarkets. All operators have low-cost packages available, including up to a gigabyte mobile internet. Such a package usually costs around 2.5 euros.

From our point of view, there is no fundamental difference between the operators and the packages they offer, so you can safely choose any operator. At the same time, we would recommend that beginners choose a package with prepaid Internet traffic. Otherwise, Internet traffic will be charged at standard rates, which is quite ruinous. Of course, you can include an Internet plan for any package, but this will require additional steps and costs.

Omnitel Extra

Extra is a prepaid package from the largest Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel. For November, 2016 the following types of cards are on sale:

  • 1.5 euros is the cost of a basic card that is not connected to any plan, to which 1.5 euros is credited. When calling and using mobile Internet, standard Omnitel tariffs are used, which will empty your account very quickly (calls within the Omnitel network - 0.05 EUR / min, calls to other networks - 0.14 EUR / min, SMS abroad - 0.084 EUR, 0 ,26 EUR for 10 Mb of data, etc.).
  • 5.50 euros is a card with prepaid 1Gb internet and 4 euros on the account. This card also allows you to call most countries in the world, including Russia and Belarus, for 0.39 euros per minute (the standard rate is 0.53 euros/min to Belarus and 0.89 euros/min to Russia). In our opinion, this is the best type of Extra card for a tourist.
  • 8.40 and 14.19 euros are cards with connected internet plans for 3 and 10 Gb, respectively. After 30 days, plans automatically renew if there is enough money in the account.

For all types of packages, within 30 days from the date of activation, mobile data used by Facebook (both through the browser and using the application) is not charged.

The money credited to the account expires 100 days after the last replenishment. After that, the number can receive calls for another 250 days.

Internet in Lithuania

Lithuania ranks first in the world in terms of Wi-Fi quality and speed. There are access points in almost all major shopping centers, hotels, cafes and restaurants, museums, as well as on the streets of large cities (in the most popular public places).
For example, in Vilnius, these are: the courtyard of the Teacher's House, the open-air restaurant "Cili kaimo", the Town Hall Square, K. Sirvydas Square, Moniuszko Square, Europe Square, the Recreation Area on the White Bridge. Wi Fi in the listed places is free, the access point is Cgates.

There is also paid Wi Fi Zebra - there are about 4,000 access points in all of Lithuania. Cost - from 0.87 euros per day. A map of access points in Vilnius can be obtained on the operator's website.

Internet

Several hotels and a couple of restaurants have WiFi access. According to some information, you can use them for free. GPRS roaming is available to subscribers of large Russian operators. Internet access is available in the National Library, and in Internet cafes, which can be found in major cities.

In this regard, the country is not much different from neighboring Latvia - two of the three main operators are the same: BITE and Tele2. The third is Telia, which appeared as an independent company not so long ago and was previously called Omnitel.

In terms of quality, it makes no sense to single out any one operator, they are approximately the same in terms of territory coverage. Lithuania is a small country and there are virtually no "white spots" on the admission map.

Where is the best place to buy a SIM card

SIM cards can be purchased at specialized stores of mobile communication companies, at the cash desks of all supermarkets, at gas stations or at Lietuvos Spauda newsstands.

Considering that no documents are needed to connect to the network at a prepaid rate, you can buy a SIM card yourself. If you have any questions during the registration process, it is better to contact the officials. Moreover, all SMS and system messages come in Lithuanian.

Mobile tariffs for tourists

As such, operators in the country do not have special travel packages, but you can activate a special option and start calling to Russia at a quite reasonable price.

For example, the tariff from Tele2 can definitely be called the best in terms of price. The My Countries service costs 1.45 euros and allows you to call Russia at 0.27 euros per minute.

Noteworthy is the Extra tariff from Telia - 5.5 euros per connection (of which 4 are returned to the account), 1 GB of mobile Internet is included. Calls to Russia will cost 0.6 euros (42 rubles).

Meanwhile, the price level of Russian operators, although slowly, is still beginning to be influenced by competition from foreign colleagues in the shop - I don’t want to lose the tourist segment. That is why roaming rates in the country today are not as high as they were a few years ago - for example, one of the Russian operators offers a tariff of 19 rubles per minute of calls from Lithuania. What to choose - a local SIM card or roaming - it's up to you.

How to call Lithuania from Russia

Nothing complicated: dial "8", connect to the international line (dial 10 after the beep), indicate the country code (370), locality and landline phone number. If you call from a mobile, the call will go directly through the national code +7.

However, as is often the case, there are exceptions. All three operators are allowed to apply surcharges to domestic roaming rates in the EU.

Telia blocks data roaming on Extra and Ežys cards, while Labas and Pildyk issue combo packages for EU roaming. More detailed information for each of the operators you can read below.

How to call Lithuania

If you live in Belarus and you need to contact a resident of Lithuania, you need to know the code of Lithuania, the city where the subscriber lives and his personal number phone. In simplified form, the dialing rule looks like this:

Lithuanian code (370)—area code—subscriber number

In this case, it is necessary to take into account from which telephone device you are making a call. The rule for calling a Lithuanian subscriber from a mobile and landline phone is different, but the general dialing pattern is still traced: country-city-personal number.

How to call Lithuania from a landline

If you only have a landline phone at hand, then the sequence of actions when making international call will be as follows:

  • Lithuania code set - 370;
  • Enter the city code, for example, Kaunas - 37;
  • Finally, we enter the number of the Lithuanian subscriber.

When entering international and long-distance communications, you must wait for beeps, and then continue dialing.

How to call Lithuania from landline to mobile

The actions are similar when dialing to a city number, but instead of the city code, the code of the mobile operator is entered, and then the number of the subscriber himself:

  • Access to the international line through the eight;
  • Exit to the intercity line by pressing 10;
  • Lithuania code set - 370;
  • Enter the operator code;
  • Enter mobile number Lithuanian subscriber.

How to call Lithuania from mobile to mobile

Having at hand cellular telephone, the procedure is greatly simplified. There is no need to go to special communication lines. It is enough to dial the subscriber's number in the format:

Lithuanian code (+370)—mobile operator code—subscriber number

In this case, do not forget to type + before the Lithuanian code. After dialing, a direct connection with the subscriber will occur.

The procedure for dialing from mobile to landline is practically no different. It is only necessary to replace the mobile operator code with the code of the city where the Lithuanian subscriber lives.

To call a specific city, use the directory of telephone codes of Lithuanian settlements.
