Good day everyone!

Since you have landed on this page, most likely you have some problems setting up your home router from D-Link. For those who did not know or forgot the factory password for the “admin panel” D-Link router, model DIR-300, we inform:

Leave the “password” field empty. There is no default password!

Like this interesting feature this model. For those who are curious, we will conduct a short course on resetting DIR-300 to factory settings and obtaining administrative access for further setup.

How to set up a routerD-Link, you will find out in the following video instructions:

Hard reset to factory settings

So, something went wrong with your router. Otherwise, why do you need access to the administration panel? In this case, one of the ways to restore functionality after some kind of failure or a previous “crooked” router configurer is to perform a hardware reset, and then configure everything correctly and the way it should be. To do this, take the recovery tool and press it (for 10-15 seconds) the Reset button, usually recessed into the case near the corresponding inscription.

Recovery tool is a humorous name, common in narrow circles of specialists, and means a thin pin, a hairpin, or simply any piece of hard wire that allows you to press buttons in hard-to-reach places on the case.

Access to the administrative panel

After 15 seconds, release the button and wait for the device to boot for the first time. Next, we connect any of the four LAN ports to the computer, and connect the cable from the provider to the WAN port. On your computer, launch any browser convenient for you and type in command line address 192.168.0.1.

If everything is done correctly, the router’s administrative panel page will load in the browser window. In the “login” field, enter admin, leave the “password” field empty and press Enter. As mentioned earlier, the DIR-300 does not have a default password. Therefore, you should be able to log in successfully if you have previously performed a hard reset correctly.

There is usually a sticker on the bottom of the router case withIP address of the administrative panel and the login/password pair for access.

After successfully logging into the administrative panel, the first thing you need to do is set your password on the D-Link DIR-300 router, because not only you know about the standard (read “empty”) password on D-Link routers.

Next, a connection to the provider is configured and Wi-Fi password. Typically, these procedures are sufficient for the safe use of the DIR-300 and its updated version NRU. Everything else relates to the “fine” tuning of this equipment.

Finally, the personal opinion of the author of the article. In the settings, be sure to disable the Wi-Fi authorization procedure using the WPS code. The authentication mechanism, although convenient, is very leaky. For those who care about safety home network, it's better not to use it.

Setting up the DIR-300/NRU/B7 router

Connecting Wi-Fi router D-Link DIR-300 NRU rev. B7

The newly purchased and unpacked router is connected as follows: we connect the provider cable (in our case, Medialan) to the yellow port on the back of the router, signed Internet. We plug the supplied blue cable into any of the four remaining sockets of the router with one end, and into the network card connector of your computer with the other. We connect power to the router and wait for it to boot and for the computer to determine the parameters of the new network connection (don’t be surprised that it is “limited”; that’s how it’s supposed to be).

Note: when setting up the router, do not use the Medialan connection you have on your computer to access the Internet. It should be disabled. Subsequently, after setting up the router, it will also no longer be needed - the connection will be established by the router itself.

It would also be a good idea to make sure that in the connection parameters local network The parameters for the IPV4 protocol are set to: obtain an IP address and DNS server addresses automatically. To do this, in Windows 7, click on the connection icon at the bottom right, select “Network and Sharing Center” shared access", then change the adapter parameters, right-click on "Local Area Connection - Properties", and make sure that no static addresses are registered there. In Windows XP, these same properties can be viewed in the Control Panel - network connections. It seems that I have taken into account the main reasons why something may not work. Let's move on.

Setting up a connection in DIR-300 rev. B7

The first step to configure PPOE (Medialan works using this protocol) on the D-Link DIR-300 is to launch your favorite Internet browser ( Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari on Mac OS X, etc.) and go to the address 192.168.0.1 (enter this address in the browser address bar and press enter). As a result, we should see a request for a login and password to enter the admin panel of the DIR-300 B7 router.

Login and password for DIR-300 rev. B7 The standard login is admin, the password is the same. If for some reason they do not fit, then perhaps you or someone else changed them. In this case, you can reset the router to factory settings. To do this, press and hold the RESET button on the back of the router with something thin (I use a toothpick) for 5 seconds. And then repeat the first step.
After entering your login and password, we will be taken to the settings menu of the D-Link DIR-300 rev router. B7

D-Link DIR-300 rev. B7 - administration panel
Here we need to select “Advanced settings”, after which you will see a page that will display the model of your Wi-Fi router, firmware version and other information.
In the top menu, select “Network” and get to the list of WAN connections.

In the image above there is one WAN connection in this listing. Click on the WAN connection, you should have the following settings: connection type (Dynamic IP), you also need to check the box - Obtain DNS server address automatically. The Mac address will need to be cloned, because... There is a link to mas addresses. Click save.

After saving the WAN settings, click the add button in the lower right corner and get to the main WAN settings. This time we select PPPoE in the "Connection type" field. Then, instead of the standard connection name, you can enter any other name (for example, I have Medialan), in the “Username” field we enter your login from the Internet Medialan, in the password and password confirmation fields, respectively. Check the Keep Alive box and click “Save”. On the next page, where the newly created connection will be displayed, we will again be asked to save the configuration. Let's save.

Now, if all the operations above were performed correctly, if you did not make a mistake when entering the connection parameters, then when you go to the “Network” menu to the “WAN” tab, you should see the following joyful picture:

Pay attention to the checkbox in the “Default Gateway” item; the default should be the PPPoE connection you created. If all three connections are active, then this indicates that the most basic thing for setting up the D-Link DIR-300 NRU rev. We have successfully completed B7, and we can move on to the next step.

Setting up a WI-FI connection DIR-300 NRU B7

Generally wireless Wi-Fi connection can be used immediately after connecting the router to the network, but in most cases it is useful to configure some of its parameters, in particular, set a password for Wi-Fi point access so that your neighbors do not use your Internet. Even if you don’t mind, this can affect the speed of the network, and the “brakes” when working on the Internet will most likely not be pleasant for you. Go to the Wi-Fi tab, basic settings. Here you can set the name of the access point (SSID), it can be anything, it is advisable to use the Latin alphabet. After this is done, click change.

Now go to the “Security Settings” tab. Here you should select the type of network authentication (preferably WPA2-PSK, as in the picture) and set a password for your point WiFi access— letters and numbers, at least 8 characters. Click “Change”. Done. Now you can connect to a Wi-Fi access point from any device equipped with an appropriate communication module - be it a laptop, smartphone, tablet or Smart TV.

UPD: if it doesn’t work, try changing the router’s LAN address to 192.168.1.1 in settings - network - LAN.

What do you need for TV from Medialan to work? In order for IPTV from Medialan to work through the router, go to the first page of the DIR-300 NRU rev settings. B7 (to do this, you can click quick setup in the lower right corner) and select “IPTV Setup Wizard”. All that remains is to select the port to which you will connect IPTV set-top box. Click change.

That's probably all, don't forget to save your router settings!

It is gaining more and more popularity. And this is not surprising, because it is very convenient way for connecting to the Internet and linking various devices, because no need to use wires.

But, using Wi-Fi network Well, don't forget about her safety. If you still haven’t set a password for Wi-Fi or it’s too simple, perhaps a neighbor’s child has already hacked into your network and is using the free Internet for his own pleasure.

Of course, maybe you are a very kind person and you don’t feel sorry for anything for your dear neighbors, but then you shouldn’t complain that your favorite sites have started to load poorly.

If you still decide to secure your network, let's figure out how to set a password for Wi-Fi.

Where is the Wi-Fi password set?

Router (router) is the most common device when used Wi-Fi technology, so we will consider how to set a password on this particular device.

Now there are many router manufacturers on the market (D-Link, TP-Link, Zyxel, Asus, etc.) and even more different models of these devices. Therefore, in this article we will not consider setting a password for all these models, but will analyze this procedure using the example of one of the popular D-Link DIR-300 routers.

The settings of most modern wireless routers are opened using an Internet browser. This can be done on a computer, laptop, tablet, or any other device that is connected to the router using wires or wirelessly.

It is advisable to perform this procedure on a device that is connected to the router via cable. The fact is that if you are connected via Wi-Fi, when you change the password, you will be disconnected from the network and you will have to go into the settings again.

In order to open the settings we need, we need to enter the IP address of the device in the address bar of the browser. Most manufacturers use standard IP addresses, but some may have their own specific address.

The most common router IP addresses:

  • 192.168.0.1
  • 192.168.1.1
  • 192.168.2.1
  • 10.0.0.1
  • 10.0.1.1

If one of these addresses does not suit you, you can find it in several ways:

  1. Look at the router case. Typically, manufacturers write the IP address of the router interface on a sticker on the bottom of the device.
  2. Study the instructions or CD that were included.
  3. Search the Internet for information on your router model.

It is possible that you have a non-standard IP address. In this case, you need to find out this address from the person who set up the router for you or reset the device to factory settings.

Login to router settings

Once you have determined which IP address is suitable for your device, enter it in the address bar of the browser.

If the connection to the router is successful, a window for entering your username and password should appear.

For most routers, the default username and password is “admin.” The D-Link DIR-300 is no exception. Therefore, you need to enter this word in both fields and click on the “Login” link.

If after these steps you are unable to enter the device settings, then either your router has different login data, or these data have been changed.

If you do not know the name and password to log into the device, then there are 2 options:

  1. As in the case of the IP address, look at the case, read the instructions, search the Internet.
  2. If the first step does not help, then you need to reset the router to standard settings using a special button on the device.

Setting a Wi-Fi password

After you have entered the router interface, find the “Security Settings” item in the “Advanced Settings” section. In the settings of other router models, the menu will look different, but similar items can be easily found at keywords wi-fi and security.

On the “Security Settings” page you need to set the following items:

  • Network authentication
  • PSK encryption key
  • WPA encryption

In the “Network Authentication” field, you need to select which authentication technology will be used to protect your Wi-Fi network. WPA2 is currently the most secure authentication method for a wireless network. Therefore, it is recommended to choose this item to reliably protect your wifi.

You should not be careless when choosing a password. The password must be quite complex, consisting of letters in different cases and numbers. It is desirable that it be some kind of meaningless set, and not specific words. This combination is harder to crack, and you don't have to remember it. Write it down somewhere and use it when connecting new devices to your wireless network.

The next step is to set up WPA encryption. To do this, you need to select an encryption algorithm in the “WPA encryption” field. It is recommended to choose AES, because it is one of the most reliable.

After entering all the parameters, click the “Change” button to save the settings. After changing the settings, most routers require a reboot. Therefore, you will most likely be disconnected from the network and you will have to enter the password again.

Checking Wi-Fi operation

After rebooting the router, you will need to reconnect to the network on all devices and enter New Password.

If an error occurs when connecting, then most likely your device still has the old settings for connecting to wifi. To fix this problem, you need to remove your network from the list of connections and search for access points again. After your network appears in the list again, connect to it and enter a new password.

In this manual, we will look in detail at all the steps that will help you configure the D-Link DIR-300 NRU Wi-Fi router hardware revision B7 for “ Home Internet Beeline." The guide will cover the following steps:

  • Preparation for setup, connecting the router, information about updating the firmware, whether it is necessary to do it.
  • The most common mistakes made when setting up a router.
  • Setting up l2tp beeline connection on DIR-300 rev.B7.
  • Setting up a wireless network, how to set a password for a Wi-Fi network.
  • Setting up Beeline TV - digital television IPTV.

The process of setting up a router itself is not something that absolutely any user could not handle if they had competently and thoroughly written instructions. This is exactly what I try to write. Go!

Update: If your router has firmware 2.5.11 or 2.15.19 (generally 2.5.x) installed, and the settings interface is similar to the screenshot below, use these instructions: .

Connecting the router to the computer, preparing for setup, how to flash the router and is it worth it?

Connecting the D-Link DIR-300 B7 Wi-Fi router is not difficult: just connect the Beeline cable to the Internet port on the back of the router, and connect one of the LAN ports with a cable to a similar connector on the computer or laptop from which the setup will be done. Plus turn on the power to the router. By the way, if you do not plan to flash the router (more on this later), then, in principle, all steps to configure the device can be performed via Wi-Fi - from a tablet or even a phone.

Now about the D-Link DIR-300 B7 firmware: if for some other models of D-Link routers I recommend updating the firmware, then routers of this modification, as a rule, usually work properly without this process. This way, you can complete all the router settings and turn to the firmware update method only if any problems arise, such as:

  • Frequent spontaneous disconnections of the connection, which can only be “cure” by rebooting the router.
  • Low Internet speed via Wi-Fi, the router “cuts” the speed.
  • Other problems of unknown origin.

Penultimate: if you have already tried to configure your DIR-300 B7, but it did not work, reset the router to factory settings before continuing. To do this, with the router's power on, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds, then release it. It will take another 30 seconds to reboot the router with factory settings.

And lastly: before setting up, disconnect the Beeline connection on the computer that you use to access the Internet. And do not connect in the future - after configuration, the router itself will establish this connection and after that distribute it over the local and wireless Wi-Fi network to all devices. Otherwise, if you do not disable this connection, you will have a question about why there is Internet on the computer, but it connects via Wi-Fi, but without access to the Internet. And I'm very tired of answering this question.

Setting up l2tp beeline connection on DIR-300NRU B7

The main step when setting up any wireless router (Wi-Fi router) is to correctly configure the connection parameters in it. This is what we will do - in our case it is DIR-300 B7 and the L2TP connection type used in Beeline. So let's get started.

Launch your favorite browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in its address bar. The next thing you will see is a request for a username and password to enter the settings of the D-Link DIR-300 NRU B7 router. The standard values are admin and admin, here and there.

After entering the correct data, you will find yourself on the main router settings page. However, we won’t dwell on it: at the bottom of the “admin panel”, select the “Advanced settings” link.

On the next page, in the “Network” item, click on the “WAN” link, and then click the “Add” button, ignoring the connection that is already in the list. Now you are on the Internet connection settings page, here you need to enter the correct parameters for the Beeline provider.

The fields should be filled in as follows (for those not mentioned here, the values should not be changed or are not required):

  • Connection type- L2TP + Dynamic IP
  • Username- Your login for accessing the Beeline Internet
  • Password- Your password for Internet access
  • VPN server address- tp.internet.beeline.ru

Basically, that's all that needs to change. After that, click “Save”. After this, you will find yourself on a page where the newly created connection will be displayed in the “Broken” state. Also, the light on the top right will blink and the number one will be displayed: if you click on it (and this should be done), you will be asked to save the device configuration again - click “Save”.

Now just refresh the current page with the list of connections and, if you have not made any mistakes, and the Beeline Internet on the computer itself is disabled, you will see that the connection status has changed from “Broken” to “Connected”, which is what we needed.

l2TP Beeline connection is connected and working

Now the computer from which the setup is being done has full access to the Internet via the local network, and if you connect via Wi-Fi from another device, you will also have access to the Internet. However, do not rush to check. First, it is better to finally configure the router, namely the parameters of the wireless Wi-Fi network.

Setting up Wi-Fi on DIR-300 B7

In order to configure Wi-Fi on the DIR-300 B7, return to the advanced settings page and in the “Wi-Fi” item select “Basic settings”.

On this page you can configure the following settings:

  • SSID(Wi-Fi access point name) - enter the desired name in English characters. This name will allow you to distinguish your wireless network from neighbors. By default (and recommended) it is visible to everyone within the access point's range.
  • A country- network standard. The default is " Russian Federation", but I recommend changing to US. Some devices do not see or do not connect to a point with the Russian Federation region. Everyone without exception is connected to the USA.

The remaining parameters can be left unchanged. Save your settings. Now in the “Wi-Fi” item, click the “Security Settings” link.

  • Network authentication- WPA2-PSK
  • PSK encryption key- the desired password for your wireless Wi-Fi network, necessary to connect to it. Must consist of at least 8 Latin characters and/or numbers.

Save all the settings you have made. The router is ready to use.

Setting up IPTV Beeline (Digital TV via router)

In order to set up Beeline television on the DIR-300NRU B7, just go to home page router settings ( Quick setup) and click on the “IP television” item. In the next step, you will be asked to select the port on the router to which you will connect the Beeline set-top box. Select the appropriate one and save the settings. Ready.

If something refuses to work for you, write comments. If everything works, write too (I will be pleased) and share the instructions in in social networks- this will make it easier for others to find it.
