I decided to make some distilled water here and, accordingly, I needed to connect the Liebig refrigerator (distiller) to the water supply. I began to think about how to connect the hose to the tap.

Standard solutions in the form of ready-made adapters for a faucet for a hose cost some absolutely unimaginable money (), so I began to think about how to get by with little expense.

In general, the solution turned out to be primitive: the easiest way to connect the hose to the tap is to use an aerator:

The fact is that the thread on the mixer watering can is very specific (diameter 22 mm, pitch 1 mm) and no ready-made plumbing gadgets are suitable for it. Except for the aerator, of course.

We unscrew it and shake out all the insides. We only need the metal shell itself:

By the way, plastic aerators are completely unsuitable due to their fragility and fragility. It needs to be made of metal.

We go to the nearest market, where they sell all kinds of plumbing fixtures, and buy there a fitting of the required diameter (for the hose we have) with a 1/2-inch internal thread. I bought for 9 mm:

We clamp the fitting into the drill, check that there is no beating when rotating:

We take a grinder with a cutting wheel and separate the excess:

It should look something like this:

Then we change the cutting wheel on the grinder to a flap one:

and carefully sand it down to get a smooth surface:

Then, using the same petal circle, we turn the hexagon into a circle and reduce its diameter until our modernized fitting begins to fit inside the aerator body. This must be done very slowly and carefully, the main thing is not to miss the moment. Periodically we stop and check whether it is included or not:

As soon as the fitting begins to pass freely through the thread and rests against the internal narrowing of the aerator body, then our faucet attachment for the hose is considered ready. All that remains is to find a 1/2" silicone gasket (they are everywhere like dirt).

So, here is the answer to the question of how to connect a hose to a mixer:

Everything is assembled in this order:

I checked it at work: nothing is leaking anywhere, everything is reliable and aesthetically pleasing.

In total, our nozzle for a water tap for a hose cost 45 rubles (brass fitting), 5 rubles for the gasket and about 40 minutes of time, including cleaning the room.

And as a bonus, we will also have a half-inch brass nut left:

I hope my experience was useful to you and you learned another way to connect a hose to a faucet in the kitchen.

By the way, the aerator will not suffer at all after such use. It can be reassembled and screwed into place. It was as if nothing had happened!

Well, if you don’t have the opportunity to grind a fitting, for example, you don’t have a suitable tool, then an adapter for a faucet for a hose can be made even simpler. How? Watch the video!

That's all. Thank you for your attention!

Good day to you, dear readers. I’ll take a little break from the bike topic and today I’ll talk about the IDE-SATA adapter.

The adapter will be useful for those who need to connect old devices using a SATA connector, such as a hard drive. My IDE cable recently died from DVD drive, and, instead of buying a new one, it was decided to try connecting the device via the SATA interface, and use the free IDE connector to connect another hard drive.
So, the order is placed, collected and shipped. The parcel, as always, reached its destination in the shortest possible time. Nothing was damaged along the way. Having opened the parcel, I saw the following things in plastic packaging:
- Adapter
- Power cord
- SATA cable
- A piece of paper with a description of the device

The adapter itself is a small board with IDE, SATA, and power connectors. The soldering is not very good; in some places the flux is not washed off. The SATA and power connectors are not very firmly attached to the board, and can quickly become loose with frequent use, unlike the IDE connector, which is firmly fixed to the board. There is also an LED on the board that glows white when in use.

The SATA cable, 7-pin, is not very flexible, but is made to last. When used, it fits well in the connectors, both on the adapter and on motherboard. On the cable itself there are markings indicating which side to connect to which connector. In general, there are no complaints about it, which cannot be said about the second cable.

The power cable consists of only two wires - plus 5V and minus, which dangle almost freely in their places. Looking ahead, I will say that this is exactly why I did not use this cable. Instead, I used a similar one from the flop, depriving it of the last power supply. Having tried several times to use the cable that was included in the kit, I was dissatisfied because the power was often lost, and the DVD drive was simply not detected by the BIOS.

Now a few words about the connection process. The adapter is connected very simply. First, we connect the board to the IDE connector on the required device, then we connect the SATA cable to the connector on the board and the motherboard. And finally, connect the power cable. We turn on the computer, and the connected device should appear in the list of SATA devices. Below you can see a photo of the inside of the computer.

A little about sad things. Glad that he managed to connect the DVD drive to the computer, he disconnected the adapter from the device and laid it on the bed without looking. The next time I was no longer able to connect the drive through the adapter to the computer; the computer did not see either the adapter, or, moreover, the drive of the subsequently connected adapter. I forgot about static electricity and ruined the adapter, so now I'm going to order a new one. In general, be careful with the adapter as it is overly sensitive to static electricity.

Instead of pros and cons, I will summarize the above.
The adapter itself is a good thing and, at times, simply irreplaceable. The picture is spoiled by the situation with the power cable. It is very cheap, as a result of which the manufacturer saved on its quality and characteristics, which affects the power supply of the connected device. Another fly in the ointment, this is not very high-quality soldering. Traces of unwashed flux were found throughout the device. The SATA cable deserves special praise. It is really good and, if handled with care, will last for a long time. The adapter, despite its price and the identified disadvantages, turned out to be successful. Its capabilities are more than enough for DVD connections drive to the computer, but to connect a hard drive, I would advise you to turn your attention to another, bidirectional IDE-SATA adapter type RXD-629.

Thanks everyone for your attention. Until new posts :-)

Instructions

Buy a SATA-IDE adapter.

Disconnect power and all connecting cables to your computer. Open the cover of the system unit. Touch the radiator for a few seconds. This is to remove static electricity from your hands, which could otherwise damage sensitive computer components.

Take a SATA cable - you will need it to connect your adapter to the motherboard. The SATA cable is usually about 25 centimeters in length, most often red. You can easily recognize it by its connector: about a centimeter wide, flat, with a slight bend on one edge. Both sides of the SATA cable are equal, so it doesn’t matter which side you plug it into the motherboard and which side into the adapter.

You will also need an IDE cable to connect your floppy drive or hard drive to the converter. The IDE cable is flat, about 5 centimeters wide, with hard plastic connectors in the form of two rows of holes. Usually has three connectors, one on top of the other two. This connector is used to connect to the motherboard or controller.

Find any free SATA connector on the motherboard. They are shaped like a SATA cable, only surrounded by a protective frame that will help you connect the cable correctly. Plug one end of the cable into the motherboard and the other into your adapter.

Connect your device (floppy drive or hard drive) and the SATA-IDE adapter with an IDE cable. Insert the far single end of the cable into the adapter, and one of the free connectors on the other side into the drive.

Please note: near the cable location on your drive there is a group of six pin contacts that can be connected by a small plastic jumper. You will find MA/SL/CS markings on the top or bottom of the drive near these pins. If you don't have a jumper, you don't need anything. If there is a jumper, pull it out and install it opposite the CS mark. This is necessary to correctly identify your device.

Connect the white rectangular connector from the power supply to your drive. If the adapter has a white rectangular socket with four pins, connect another connector from the power supply to it. Insert the disk drive or hard drive into the case of your system unit, if you removed it.

Plug in the power cable, keyboard, mouse and monitor cables. Turn on your computer - your adapter is ready to use.

Very often places on hard disk becomes small and there is a need to increase the amount of memory. One way to increase volume is installing hard disk.

You will need

  • Knowledge about the structure of the system unit, a screwdriver.

Instructions

You purchased new hard disk and brought it home to install it. To install, you must contact the manufacturer's service department if the case is under warranty and covered with stickers, or install. For self-installation, you need to remove the wall of the system unit.

Next you need to find the cable that goes to the hard drive. Usually in modern motherboards it is possible to install up to 8 or more rigid ones. Each of the cables has a cable that needs to be inserted into the connector on disk. There is only one correct connection option. Do not use force; if the cable does not insert, you may be doing something wrong. Make sure the keys on the cable match the hard one disk.

Video on the topic

Please note

Disconnect power from the computer before disassembling! Be careful, the internal elements are quite fragile.

The growth of digital technologies sets its pace in the world of computers and few are surprised that we have to increase the capacity of hard drives and their performance. However, old models can serve you along with the “newbies”. All that remains is to place them correctly in the computer and avoid the pitfalls that can be encountered with such a combination.

You will need

  • - hard drive;
  • - data cable with a suitable connector;
  • - free space in the computer system unit.

Instructions

Place the new one in the computer case. To do this, turn off the computer, disconnect the power supply (turn off the button or unplug the power cord), remove both side covers of the system unit, install and secure the new hard drive into the free slots of the case with screws on both sides. Connect the data cable (flex cable) and power cable. Modern hard drives, as a rule, are connected via a SATA (Serial ATA) connector. Before purchasing, make sure that the motherboard of your computer has a similar connector. Otherwise, you need to use a hard drive with the old connection technology - IDE. Set the jumpers to the appropriate position (if it is the main disk, to the “Master” position, if the slave one is “Slave”). A sticker with the position of the jumpers is usually located on the hard drive case. Install the side covers of the system unit and connect the power.

Turn on the computer and enter the SETUP BIOS utility (usually this requires holding down the Del key at the beginning of boot). In the SETUP program you need to make sure that the new and old hard drives are correctly identified by the system and occupy the required order. This can be seen in the Standard CMOS Features menu. Having opened it, look at the list of detected devices, for each of which properties will be shown (size, number of cylinders, etc.). If you plan to boot from a new disk, then select the corresponding item next to your disk in the Advanced BIOS Features menu and indicate it first.

Restart your PC. Monitor the loading of the operating system and make sure there are no failures or abnormal situations (unexpected reboots). If everything went well, the system will detect the new hard drive with the first launch and allow you to work with it. If the drive is , then the cables are connected correctly and the SETUP is installed.

The found hard drive is ready for use: it can be formatted, created new partitions, assign logical drive letters. To easily use these features, open the Explorer program (WIN + E) and select the context menu by right-clicking on the new drive. Remember, all information on disks is destroyed! Take steps to archive or backup information on others hard drives or Flash devices.

Please note

Each hard drive requires its own personal cable (data cable). The number of allowed connections is determined by the availability of free slots (IDE or SATA) on the motherboard.

The SETUP utility can be entered using a key other than Del. To determine it, you should pay attention to the prompt about entering SETUP at the initial stage of loading the PC.

Useful advice

There are a large number of specialized programs for working with hard drives. They allow you to create and delete logical partitions, format a disk for different operating systems, check the health of the hard drive and data integrity, test speed and much more.

  • how to connect a new hard drive

What to do in a situation if you do not have a sata connector installed on your motherboard, but you need to connect the equipment to this connector. Hard drives Today they are sold specifically for sata interfaces. But finding a hard drive with an IDE interface is problematic. Of course, this is possible, but finding such a hard drive may take a lot of time. In fact, the problem can be solved quite simply - buy and install sata- controller.

You will need

  • Computer, sata controller, screwdriver

Instructions

Disconnect power from the computer. Unscrew the screws that secure the system unit cover and remove it. The controller must be installed in a PCI slot. If you don't know where the PCI slots are on your motherboard, you can look in the technical documentation for your computer. If you don’t have technical documentation, find them on the motherboard yourself: all slots on motherboards are labeled. As a rule, they are located in the lower left corner of the motherboard, next to the video card slot. Depending on the motherboard model, there may be a different number of PCI slots. There should be a minimum of three.

Simply insert the sata controller into one of the PCI slots and then secure it with a screw. You will see where to tighten the screw after you connect the controller to the PCI slot. Without closing the system unit cover, connect the computer to power and turn it on. When the operating system boots, it should recognize the controller automatically.

Almost all controllers have Plug & Play technology, so there is no need to configure them when connecting. When the device is recognized by the system, install its software. To do this, use the software disk that should come with the controller. Additional software will expand its capabilities.

Then turn off the computer and connect the necessary sata devices to the controller. Next you need to connect the power cable to them. See if your power supply has a cable with a sata interface. In the place where the cable is connected to the device, there should be an inscription sata. If the power supply does not have such a cable, you will not be able to connect power to the device. In this case, purchase an adapter for connecting sata power. These are available in any computer store.

  1. Admin, tell me, is there some inexpensive device that could be used without disassembling system unit connect to it hard drive legacy IDE or SATA interface? I have 5 old IDE and SATA hard drives with the necessary information, and I am tired of crawling under the table, periodically connecting the necessary hard drive. I can’t connect them all at once, there aren’t enough connectors on the motherboard, and I don’t need them all at once. By the way, there is also a second drive! Maybe you can connect it somehow.
  2. Tell me, how can I connect an ordinary hard drive and a floppy drive from a simple computer with an IDE or SATA interface to a laptop or netbook? There are two hard drives left from the old system unit, and there is some information on them. I saw an advertisement online AgeStar adapter, I think it will suit me, do you happen to have a description of working with it on your website?
  3. Explain how to connect to to a simple computer laptop hard drive. The motherboard on the laptop burned out, I can’t buy another one yet, I still have a hard drive with information left from the laptop and I urgently need it.
  4. Hello admin, such a question! How to connect an old hard drive to a new motherboard? I bought it the other day new computer and ran into a problem: there is no IDE connector on the motherboard, and I still have a 250 GB IDE hard drive and a floppy drive from my old computer. I read your article “IDE-SATA Adapter”, in this article you explain how to connect a hard drive or DVD-ROM of an IDE or SATA interface to the motherboard using a 3-port SATA and IDE controller – VIA. But this IDE-SATA adapter is inserted into the PCI connector. My new motherboard has such a connector, but I can’t insert anything into it because the video card gets in the way.

AgeStar adapter

There is nothing easier, friends! We will need a multifunctional AgeStar adapter IDE SATA(costing 500-600 rubles), with its help we can solve the problems described in all four letters. I always carry this adapter in my magic suitcase. But you need to use such an adapter correctly, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the connected devices, for example, you can insert the power adapter connector of the AgeStar adapter into the power connector hard drive incorrectly and the hard drive may fail. Read the article further and you will see everything in detail in the screenshots.

Note to you: On our website there is a description of three more similar devices:

Our AgeStar adapter is in this nice box.

Scope of delivery: Power supply

And here is such an adapter with one USB cable, diverging into two USB 2.0 plugs. If we want to connect an old hard drive or floppy drive to our computer or laptop via an adapter, then we need to use the main black cable USB data 2.0. The red USB 2.0 cable has the function of additional power supply and should only be used if the connected device is not detected in our operating system(happens very rarely).

The AgeStar adapter has a power indicator HDD operation and the BackUp button, it is used to create backup copies using the PCClone EX Lite program located on the driver disk. Driver disk (needed only for the Windows 98SE operating system).

Instructions in Russian.

I have been using this adapter for six months and quite often, but carefully, so far there have been no problems. Warranty for the device is 12 months.
Here's our adapter on closer inspection.
Using our adapter, you can successfully connect an old hard drive or an IDE and SATA interface drive, as well as a hard drive from a laptop, to a computer or laptop.

Let's look at what this looks like in practice.

How to connect a SATA hard drive to a laptop or desktop computer using an AgeStar adapter

First of all, let's correctly connect the power supply to the adapter itself.
Our AgeStar multifunctional adapter has a connector for connecting a power supply. Here, do everything correctly, you need to observe the polarity of the power connection. If you have ever connected an IDE hard drive to your motherboard, then you must have done everything correctly. The AgeStar adapter (just like the IDE hard drive) has special keys - two bevels on the sides.

The power supply connector has the same bevels.

These keys must match when connecting. Let's connect. I think you succeeded.

Now we connect the AgeStar adapter itself and the SATA hard drive. The adapter has a connector for connecting SATA devices. The SATA hard drive has a power connector and a SATA data connector.

This is how we connect the SATA hard drive to our adapter.

Now we connect the adapter’s power supply to the mains and turn on the power switch on the AgeStar adapter to the ON operating mode.

Well, the final moment has come, we connect our adapter and laptop using the main black USB cable and our SATA hard drive must be detected in the operating system. The full picture will look like this.

If the hard drive is not detected, then connect an additional red USB power cable to the laptop.

How to connect a SATA drive to a laptop or simple computer using an AgeStar adapter

We do everything exactly the same as in the previous case. The AgeStar adapter has a connector for connecting SATA devices. The SATA drive has a power connector and a SATA data connector.

This is how we connect the SATA drive to our adapter.

How to connect an old IDE hard drive to a laptop or desktop computer using an AgeStar adapter
Here, too, we do everything the same as in the previous case, but there is one remark. We connect the power supply cable of the AgeStar adapter directly to the power connector of the IDE hard drive. Please observe the polarity of the connection. There is a special key in the form of bevels on the power connector of the IDE hard drive. There is also a key on the connector of the adapter power supply (two bevels on the sides). When connecting the connector to the power connector of the IDE hard drive, the keys must match.

Then we connect the AgeStar adapter and the IDE hard drive. The AgeStar adapter has a U-shaped protrusion on the connector, and the hard drive or IDE drive has a special cutout or key that must match when connected.

Everything should look like this.

Next, everything is as in previous cases, we connect the adapter’s power supply to the mains and turn on the power switch on the AgeStar adapter to the ON operating mode. We connect our adapter and laptop using a basic black USB cable. Our IDE hard drive must be detected by the operating system.

One of these days I will add to the article and try to connect a laptop hard drive to our multifunctional adapter.

Modern television panels are equipped with connectors that allow you to connect various types of equipment to them. The most commonly in demand is a laptop.

It is very convenient to use such a bundle for presentations or at home for viewing multimedia content. In this case, you can connect your laptop to both a TV and a projector, even if they are outdated models.

Types of signals

The whole essence of the connection comes down to connecting the ports of the transmitting device and the receiving one. Besides the physical connection? will require configuration, and in some cases additional installation software. The transmitted signal, depending on its type, can be:

  • analog;
  • digital.

A signal is an electromagnetic disturbance that has different shapes and frequencies. To convert vibrations into a perceptible form, complex electronic components are used. Analog transmission is a continuous signal, while digital transmission is a discrete signal, that is, a sequence of short pulses with a certain duration and amplitude.

Digital transmission allows you to transmit a high quality signal using different encryption algorithms. One standard allows for simultaneous transmission of both video and audio content. Analogue transmission is characterized by high susceptibility to interference and low bandwidth compared to digital transmission.

The simplest connection is when the same type of interface is used for transmission and reception. But it happens that there is a need to convert one type of signal to another. For this purpose, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are used. This connection of devices to each other is possible using a cord to connect the laptop to the TV and using a special adapter.

Signal conversion devices

In order to connect modern devices, most likely, you will not need any adapters or adapters. But in order to connect to an old TV, you cannot do without a DAC device. The following types of connectors can be found on TVs and laptops: HDMI, DVI, VGA, RCA, S-Video.

The first two connectors are for digital signal transmission. The HDMI protocol is an enhanced version of DVI. Using new encryption algorithms, several revisions of HDMI were released. Starting from revision 1.3, this type of connection allows you to fully transmit sound in one channel. The maximum resolution of video data is 3840×2160, for revision - 1.4 b.

The next three connectors are used for analog transmission. Now they can be found on obsolete equipment. The most advanced of them is the VGA interface, which allows you to transmit video with a resolution of 1280x1024 pixels. S-Video is slightly preferable to RCA and its resolution is 1024*768. The adapter between S-Video and RCA does not require active components and is easy to make yourself.

Thus, the following type of adapter is used:

  • HDMI-VGA;
  • HDMI-RCA;
  • VGA-HDMI;
  • VGA-RCA.

Devices designed to convert signals of one type into another are called converters. When selecting such an adapter, attention is paid to the nominal input and output resolution of the device and the screen refresh rate at this resolution. Any of these types of converter must ensure signal transmission without distortion.

HDMI-VGA Converter

Such a converter will be needed when using a modern laptop and an outdated model of a television device. The adapter itself is built on active components and uses a microcontroller in its electronic circuit. The converter does not require separate power supply, since all the necessary voltage is supplied through the lines of the connector itself and is generated in the transmission device.

The whole essence of the connection operation comes down to switching the laptop output directly to the adapter, and the converter output is connected to the TV using a VGA - VGA cable. In the TV settings, select the image output option via the VGA interface.

An interesting feature of this adapter is that it You can also organize audio broadcasting. In HDMI adapters of revision 1.3 or higher, a socket is installed, usually 3.5 mm, which is connected with a wire that has 3.5 mm jacks on both sides. The connection is made to the Audio input. True, in this case in the settings sound card The laptop selects audio broadcast via HDMI.

VGA to HDMI adapter

This converter will come in handy if you need to get an image from an old laptop onto a modern TV panel. Similar to the reverse adapter, the adapter does not require additional power and contains active electronic components. In this case, the sound has to be transmitted via a separate cable. The connection is simple: a VGA cable coming from the adapter is connected to the laptop, and the output of the converter is connected to the TV input. The TV selects image output from HDMI.

Another type of adapter

The other two types are not as popular, but are still used. First of all, this concerns HDMI-RCA. The “tulip” type connector is found in many older generation TVs. If you have an adapter, the physical connection should not be difficult. It is important to respect the colors of the RCA plugs of the adapter and the TV. Sound is transmitted separately.

Software connection settings

Information output to an external display is provided by the video card installed in the laptop. The main manufacturers of video cards are AMD, Intel, NVIDIA. Each manufacturer uses its own software. As a rule, it is installed along with drivers on the card.

In order to find out which card is installed in the laptop, you can refer to its description technical characteristics or study the stickers on the device body. If such information is missing, you will need to use utilities that display information about the installed hardware in the laptop. For example, Everest, CPU-Z, or use standard operating system (OS) capabilities.

So, for Windows OS, you will need to left-click on the “My Computer” shortcut and context menu select "Properties". Next, select the “Hardware” tab, and then “Device Manager”. In the menu that appears, find the “Video adapters” tab and look at the name of the video card. In the settings of the video adapter, find the item related to image output and select connecting the output to two screens.

If the OS allows it, it’s easier to use regular means. To do this, you will need to go to screen properties. In the operating room Windows system XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 It’s easier to right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select “Properties” and then “Options” from the menu that appears. The window that appears will display a graphical representation of multiple monitors. One will be activated, this is the laptop screen itself, and the other will be gray. To activate it, you will need to click on it with the left mouse button or select the connection located at the bottom of the menu.

For Windows OS, starting from the eighth version, the actions have been simplified. By right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop, select “Display Settings” from the drop-down list, and open page, at the very end, click the “Detection” item. All screens that are currently connected are activated.

Modern equipment allows you to avoid these setup steps, since it automatically recognizes the display connection at the hardware level.

Once the display is recognized, the next step is to select its purpose. It can be connected:

I would like to point out that there is a device called a splitter. The output from the laptop video adapter is connected to it, and he himself, using electronic circuits, duplicates the image to its outputs. There can be from four to 16 such outputs. They display a picture that replicates the image on the laptop screen. In this case, you can connect the laptop both to the TV and simultaneously to a monitor or projector.

Physical connection of equipment

To connect a TV to a laptop, netbook or PC, you will need to connect them together at the physical level. This can be achieved by connecting the laptop to the TV either via cable or wirelessly.

Wired connection

Before starting the connection, you need to prepare all the elements that will be used during the connection. In a simple case it is one cable, in a complex case it is adapters, adapters, extensions. When connecting devices using a cable, you will need to complete the following steps:

This connection itself is reliable, and the next time you need to transfer an image from a laptop to a TV screen, you just need to plug the cable into the connector. In this case, instead of a laptop, you can use any device with a similar output.

Wireless communication

This connection is preferable; it does not require laying a cable from the laptop to the TV. The limitation of such a connection will be the capabilities of the television panel. It must have a built-in WiFi adapter, or it must be possible to connect external device transfers.

The external device is connected to USB port TV or HDMI. If there is no WiFi card in the laptop, a similar device is also connected to it. WiFi connection devices is also associated with the installation of software for their proper operation. Settings wireless connection not difficult.

First of all, you need to refer to the instructions that come with the TV, which will indicate not only the setup sequence, but also the types of supported devices.

Here is a list of the most commonly used adapters:

  • Google Chromecast;
  • Android Mini PC;
  • Compute Stick;
  • Miracast.

On your laptop, you will need to find the “Network” section in the control panel, then “Network settings” and select the Wi-Fi connection type.

When the connection is established, images are displayed using special programs. For example, WiDi, Samsung Share, Miracast, home media server, etc. Some programs are universal, suitable for any type of equipment, while others are intended only for specific manufacturers.

Thus, having all the necessary wires and adapters, you can view the necessary material located in the laptop on a large screen.
