The viewing angles are wide, which is typical even for inexpensive matrices. With significant deviations, the change in colors and brightness is minimal.

Illumination uniformity is quite good. Small areas of glare are visible only at the bottom of the screen, but during everyday use they do not cause any inconvenience.

Operating system and software

Cirrus 1 runs an operating system Android versions 5.1 Lollipop. And this fact cannot but rejoice, since on at the moment This system is very current and even some more expensive models have not been updated to this version. there is no proprietary shell, so we have the so-called “naked” Android.

Considering the technical characteristics of the smartphone, the Spreadtrum SC7731 hardware platform is of greatest interest. We haven’t seen smartphones on this platform before, so we don’t know what to expect from it. Judging by data from open sources, the Spreadtrum SC7731 is very close in performance to the MediaTek MT6582. Yes, the processor is far from new, but it is still used in budget solutions. In our case, we have 4 Cortex-A7 cores with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz, a Mali-400 MP2 video core and 1 GB of RAM, of which about 400 MB is available to the user. Built-in memory 8 GB, about 5.5 GB available.

A set of combined and processor tests showed very average results, but given the price of the smartphone, this was quite expected. In the AnTuTu test we received 19323 points. seems to be good, but not in 2015.

The capabilities of the Mali-400 MP2 have long been known to everyone. Considering the resolution of 1280x720 pixels, it copes with its tasks quite well. NenaMark2 has almost 49 fps.

Now it’s worth talking about general impressions about productivity. Everything in the interface is absolutely smooth, no significant freezes or lags. Internet surfing is comfortable, 5 open bookmarks in Chrome do not cause any discomfort. As for games, the smartphone is definitely not a gaming smartphone, but you can pass the time with simple time killers. Heavier games also run, but at low or medium settings. Asphalt 8 or Dead Trigger 2 work quite comfortably.

Multimedia

The smartphone, naturally, copes without problems with playing popular video and music formats both from internal memory and from the network. The sound, as already mentioned, is not the best; at high volume levels the external speaker produces extraneous sounds, the sound in the headphones is not bad, but the supplied headphones are of rather poor quality, so it is better to replace them immediately. The AnTuTu Video Tester application showed contradictory results, it does not play at all or plays with problems the MKV format with a resolution of 2K and 4K, and video in the WMV format with a resolution of 1080P also did not work. but it should be noted that the most common files work without problems.

Wireless interfaces

First of all, we checked the operating time under intensive load in the AnTuTu Tester battery test. From 100% to 14%, the smartphone was discharged in 3 hours, with the final score being 4756. Quite a bit. In everyday use, the charge lasts for a day of not very intensive use. While watching movies, the Cirrus 1 will last 6 hours; while playing games, the battery will run out in 4 hours. Thus, we see average battery life, typical for most budget smartphones with similar characteristics.

If you want to install or transfer applications to an SD card, you will need to perform several not so simple operations (look for instructions on the 4pda forum). I also didn’t like the fact that every time you unlock it, a message appears reminding you that there is no memory card installed.
3. Poor performance of the standard camera program. I haven’t encountered this myself, but people often write on the Internet that autofocus sometimes doesn’t work correctly. In this case, it is recommended to use third party clients(eg Camera FV 5). There is no built-in ability to shoot panoramas. But overall, the 8 MP main camera is not bad.
4. There is no way to quickly turn it on silent mode through top panel notifications. This isn't a problem for many, but if you often find yourself in places where you need to mute the sound, you'll understand what I mean. You will have to either use the volume button or go further into the settings.
5. Not very sensitive GPS receiver. Under the same conditions, with a difference of half an hour, the phone can catch 6-7 satellites, or maybe only 2-3. Accordingly, the difference in measurement accuracy will differ several times.
